E85 -an alternative fuel that is comprised of 15 percent gasoline and 85 percent ethanol- is now available for Fleet users at the New Castle County Fuelman Site #2, located on Route 40 at 1923 Pulaski Highway in Bear.
Ethanol burns cleaner than gasoline and is a renewable, environmentally friendly fuel. E85 fuel is compatible with approximately 1,500 vehicles operated by Fleet Services as part of a comprehensive plan to meet the requirements of the Federal Energy Policy Act and the Clean Air Act.
Fuelman cards for all vehicles capable of using this fuel have been recoded to allow the use of both 87 octane gasoline and the E85 fuel.
Every driver in the New Castle County area is encouraged to use this fuel in order to support energy independence and clean air.
State employees who have questions on whether their Fleet assigned vehicle can utilize this fuel should contact Fleet Services at 739-CARS (2277). The Bear Fuelman station can be accessed from Route 896, Route 13, Route 1 and Route 72. The pump is separate from the others and on the right side of the building.
