FOOD DISTRIBUTION AND SURPLUS SERVICES - DELAWARE CITY

 

Accessibility: Governor Bacon Health Center is located in Delaware City, Delaware in New Castle County. It is easily accessible from many major roads including: Route 9, Route 72, Route 1 and Route 13.
Driving Directions: From the North:
(Including the City of New Castle, Wilmington and North Wilmington)
  1. I-95 South
  2. Route 1 South
  3. Take Route 72/Delaware City exit (which is approximately 2 miles after the Route 1 and Route 13 merge)
  4. Turn Left onto Route 72 at the light at the bottom of the exit ramp (toward Delaware City)
  5. Proceed on Route 72 past both the Route 72/Route 9 merge and Delaware City
  6. Continue through the traffic light. Delaware City Community Center will be on your left (an old school)
  7. After crossing small bridge,
    1. Bear to the Right and follow the directions for Fort DuPont State Park. Turn Left at the first opportunity onto Wilmington Avenue (under the Reedy Point Bridge) and proceed onto the grounds of the Governor Bacon Health Center
      - OR -
    2. Turn Left at the first turn into the Governor Bacon Health Center

From the South:
(Including: Southern New Castle County and Kent and Sussex Counties)
  1. Route 1 or Route 13 North
  2. Take Route 72/Delaware City exit (which is approximately 1/2 mile after crossing the Veterans Memorial Highway or St. Georges Bridges)
  3. Turn Right onto Route 72 (toward Delaware City)
  4. Proceed on Route 72 past both the Route 72/Route 9 merge and Delaware City
  5. Continue through the traffic light. Delaware City Community Center will be on your left (an old school)
  6. After crossing small bridge,
    1. Bear to the Right and follow the directions for Fort DuPont State Park. Turn Left at the first opportunity onto Wilmington Avenue (under the Reedy Point Bridge) and proceed onto the grounds of the Governor Bacon Health Center
      - OR -
    2. Turn Left at the first turn into the Governor Bacon Health Center

From the South West:
(Including: Baltimore and Washington)
  1. I-95 North
  2. Take DE-896 S via Exit 1 toward Glasgow/Middletown
  3. Turn Left onto US-40 E / PULASKI HWY.
  4. Turn Right onto Wrangle Hill Road/Route 72 East.
  5. Continue to follow Route 72 East (toward Delaware City)
  6. Proceed on Route 72 past both the Route 72/Route 9 merge and Delaware City
  7. Continue through the traffic light. Delaware City Community Center will be on your left (an old school)
  8. After crossing small bridge,
    1. Bear to the Right and follow the directions for Fort DuPont State Park. Turn Left at the first opportunity onto Wilmington Avenue (under the Reedy Point Bridge) and proceed onto the grounds of the Governor Bacon Health Center
      - OR -
    2. Turn Left at the first turn into the Governor Bacon Health Center

From the West:
(Including: Bear and Lums Pond)
  1. Route 72 East (toward Delaware City)
  2. Proceed on Route 72 past both the Route 72/Route 9 merge and Delaware City
  3. Continue through the traffic light. Delaware City Community Center will be on your left (an old school)
  4. After crossing small bridge,
    1. Bear to the Right and follow the directions for Fort DuPont State Park. Turn Left at the first opportunity onto Wilmington Avenue (under the Reedy Point Bridge) and proceed onto the grounds of the Governor Bacon Health Center
      - OR -
    2. Turn Left at the first turn into the Governor Bacon Health Center
Parking: Parking is available on the Governor Bacon campus. For directions to the specific Government Support Services' buildings and parking facilities, please refer to the Building Locations.

Other Transportation: This includes:
  1. Ride Sharing via Transportation Management Association(TMA)
    This is a free service provided to the public which matches regional commuters who are interested in carpooling.

Building
Locations:		 Administrative Offices
  1. Continue straight on Wilmington Avenue. Our office is the first white house on the right (marked Government Support Services).

Food Distribution Warehouse
  1. After going under the Reedy Point Bridge, take your first right onto Delaware Avenue. Continue around to the back. The Warehouse will be on your left and is directly behind the Administrative Office.

Delaware Surplus Services
  1. Continue straight on Wilmington Avenue and past the Administrative Offices
  2. You will pass the white Federal Warehouse on your right. The next building will be a red brick warehouse. Delaware Surplus Services is located in Delaware Surplus Services Warehouse. The public entrance is located in the back.
